October 2&3rd All Ireland Irish ||Mixed Foursomes Milltown Golf Club

Portumna landed the Irish Mixed Foursomes in dramatic fashion when Damien Burke holed the winning putt at the second extra hole.
James McLoughlin and Rachel Madden had got the ball rolling for the Galway side with a 5&3 win at the top of the order.
In Match 2 Ger Lynch combining with Bernie Kilmartin, won 4&3, for Portumna's second point of the day.
In Match 3 Damien  Burke partnered Mary McElroy to victory in the decisive match, which went to the 20th, sinking a crucial five-footer to seal the winning point.
"We were just glad to have a chance down the 20th," said Burke, who looked the calmest person on the course standing over that final putt.
By then Ballybofey & Stranorlar had scored a success in match four, Edward Bradley and Margaret McConnell prevailing 3&2, against Padraig Cahalan and Anne Fahy who had an unbeaten record to this point of the campaign  and the momentum shift continued in the bottom leg as Sean Carlin and Josephine Stewart won 3&1over |Ger Brehony and Mary Kelly ( Match 5)
Match 3  bringing this cliffhanger to conclusion and delivering a second green pennant for the  club, who had previously won the Irish Mixed Foursomes at Bandon in 2009.
"Absolutely fantastic," was how Pauline McEvoy, Pat Healy, joint team managers, described it. - a great effort by a panel of 14 since last May.
After such a convincing start, they could not have imagined the ending would be so complicated.
Alan Page and Carmel Cunningham had a major battle as Match 5 on Tuesday in the semi final taking a plus 1 golfer from Lee Valley to the 17th hole great credit to them. Not to forget Club Captain Stephen Madden who made up the panel with Brid Kelly who parternered Damien Burke in the Connacht Final in Claremorris in July with a fine performance.
ForPat Healy and Pauline Mc Evoy Joint Managers it was a first outing as Managers of the mixed and they were delighted to repeat the result of Managers Sean Cahalan and Mary Conwel in 2009. Shane Ryan Asst Pro in Thurles helped  out with coaching sessions for the panel throughout the campaign
